Live long & prosper

Reading a hand-written daily journal yesterday that I wrote in 1978 on a fishing & camping trip with my dad and brother, and viewing a friend's blog today, has inspired me to start blogging. I've been an anonymous reader and comment maker on other aviation blogs for over a year. My sincere thanks to those pilots for sharing their observations, insights, and thoughts. One of them (http://airplanepilot.blogspot.com/) made this list:

Ten Great Things About Blogging

1. explaining things to others makes them clearer to me, and questions from readers help me ensure I know what I am talking about.
2. When I am in an unfamiliar environment, but can open up my laptop and see my familiar readers commenting on my blog, I feel at home.
3. While uninvited adventures are occurring, I can console myself by thinking about what great blog entries they will make.
4. I can blog even when I have no clean laundry.
5. I'm creating a daily record of my adventures.
6. The process forces me to laugh at myself.
7. It allows me to relive my triumphs.
8. I can release frustration without committing injuries to coworkers.
9. I have opportunity to practice the skill of writing and communication.
10. I receive wonderful comments and encouragement from my readers.

Hopefully I'll add something worthwhile to the blog world for you with my posts. I'm confident that recording my thoughts about flights will be good for me. So, like an STC that isn't certified for known ice, I'll strive to be beneficial but will at least do no harm.
